Ohmni Telepresence Robot Named Edtech Digest Award Finalist

July 8, 2021

Ohmni Telepresence Robot for Distance Learning

OhmniLabs™ is pleased to be named an Edtech Digest Award Finalist. Ohmni Telepresence Robot for Distance Learning was featured among edtech’s best and brightest in two categories — emerging technology solution and robotics solution.

As the largest recognition program in all of education technology, The EdTech Awards from EdTech Digest recognises people in and around education for outstanding contributions in transforming education through technology to enrich the lives of learners everywhere.

Finalists and winners were announced to a worldwide audience of educators, technologists, students, parents, and policymakers interested in building a better future for learners and leaders in the education and workforce sectors.

“The worldwide pandemic put education and training to the test, but remote learning and working—in many unexpected ways—ultimately brought us closer,” said Victor Rivero, who as Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest, oversees the program.

The EdTech Awards were established in 2010 to recognise, acknowledge, and celebrate the most exceptional innovators, leaders, and trendsetters in education technology.

Finalists and winners were narrowed from the larger field and judged based on various criteria, including: pedagogical workability, efficacy and results, support, clarity, value and potential.

“After a year like no other—to all those innovators, leaders, and trendsetters in K-12, higher ed, and workforce learning staying connected, productive, persistent, and getting us closer despite all challenges: we salute you.” - Victor Rivero, Editor-in-Chief of EdTech Digest

About Ohmni Telepresence Robot for Distance Learning

Ohmni Robot is a telepresence robot on wheels that gives users the experience of being present and physically moving through a remote location. The Ohmni telepresence robot is a perfect solution for hybrid and hyflex teaching model and/or students who cannot attend school due to illness or hospitalisation.

Administrators around the world choose our emerging technology to help students navigate better outcomes and to help ensure equal access to education. Using Ohmni Telepresence Robot, students can continue their normal curriculum and stay engaged even when they are physically unable to attend class in person.

While many schools use traditional video conferencing in order to bring students into the classroom, Ohmni Telepresence Robot is unique due to the mobility and independence users experience. Instead of learning through a fixed screen, students can drive Ohmni in order to meet with peers, get a better view of the chalkboard, take notes, and more. Using a web-based app, users can log in using any device (desktop, laptop, iPad or smartphone) to drive Ohmni Telepresence Robot through a remote space.

Because Ohmni Telepresence Robot stands at human height and has a fully tiltable, emotive neck, classmates feel as if their friend has returned to school. Learning and connection are seamless with Ohmni Telepresence Robot; teachers don’t need to prepare additional lesson plans. Ohmni Telepresence Robot is affordable compared to hiring outside tutors and compared to other robots because the 3-D print used was directly from OhmniLabs' own proprietary printing technology in Silicon Valley.
